Survey of the growth of historic preservation in the United States. Identification of preservation techniques, and federal, state and private preservation agencies and legislation; value and objectives of preservation. Particular emphasis is given to the use of historic preservation planning as a strategy for community revitalization. Components of a preservation plan to be reviewed include history, urban design, architecture, economics, implementation, and preservation law and public policy. 3 units
