This course is a survey of literature written for children. Attention is given to fiction and nonfiction picture books and chapter books (realistic fiction, informational books, biography, fantasy, poetry, multicultural literature, and other types), authors and illustrators, and themes of children's literature. Students will critically examine children's literature and examine reasons some children's literature is challenged or censored. Fall and Spring semesters
