2 semester hours This course is designed to train swimming instructors beyond the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety course. Students will plan and organize skill development utilizing the various educational methods and approaches applicable to swimming and water safety instruction, and will demonstrate those skills through practice teaching sessions. Students will also learn the correct swimming styles taught by the Red Cross. The student has an opportunity to earn Water Safety Instructor and Professional CPR certifications. Prerequisite: PHED 114 (Aquatics I), or consent of instructor.
