3 semester hours A broad introduction to the field emphasizing problem-solving techniques and algorithm development. Topics include algorithms, computer hardware, operating systems, networks, computer languages, and application areas. Students develop programs primarily in a high-level programming language. Three hours of lecture and one hour of lab each week. This course can satisfy the general education computer literacy requirement. Prerequisite: Placement in MATH 101 or higher.
