2 semester hours This is an 80-hour certification course covering the core knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to function as a first responder in a medical emergency. Special attention is given to performing in scenarios of environmental adversity and with limited resources as is common in wilderness situations. The curriculum meets US DOT National Standards for a First Responder certification with additional protocols for extended care situations. Courses are offered through off-campus certifying organizations. Additional course costs will be incurred. Prerequisite: RMTO 115 or permission of the instructor.
