The course includes an introduction to sets and logic, elementary counting techniques, an introduction to probability, and topics in matrix algebra including the solution of systems of equations and matrix inverses. Illustrative examples and problems will be chosen from the social, managerial, and biological sciences. Computing may be used to illustrate concepts and solve problems. No background in computer programming is assumed. The course is appropriate for the student who plans to take no advanced courses in mathematics. Dist: QDS. The staff.
