Not offered in the period from 08F through 10S This course will consider selected case studies of scientific and technological work since 1960, using analytical tools from science studies, historical sociology, philosophy of science and gender studies. Participants will read classic books deploying these tools, and then will research and present their own case studies on topics such as the development of the personal computer, invention of the "abortion pill" RU-486, or disposal of high level nuclear waste.Open to all classes.
