09W, 10S: 11 This course explores the expansion of American diplomatic, military and economic power since 1900, with particular attention to the ways that ideas and culture have shaped America's relations with the world. Specific topics include: U.S. imperialism in the Philippines and elsewhere; U.S. anti-imperialism; America's overseas nation building ventures; Wilsonianism; U.S. intervention in the World Wars; the Cold War; and American relations with the "Third World.Open to all classes.
