Not offered in the period from 08F through 10S The course focuses primarily on developments within New England but involves some discussion of the region's historical relationship with the rest of the United States and with Canada. Specific topics include the logic of regionalism, the origins of the six New England states, town founding, the dynamics of economic change, immigration and ethnicity, education (both public and private), regional literature, historic preservation, and patterns of community development.
