08F, 09F: D.F.S.P. More than any other German city, Berlin encapsulates Germany's complex recent past. From the Brandenburg Gate to the Olympic Stadium and from the Wannsee to Alexanderplatz, every corner of the capital evokes memories of Nazi rule, World War II, Cold War divisions, or Unification. This course addresses significant aspects of postwar German history and cultural memory. In-depth studies of important developments will be complemented by visits to museums and historical sites. Prerequisite: acceptance into the Dartmouth Foreign Study Program. WCult: W.
