09S: 12 This course introduces students to the history of Southeast Asia during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It will examine the development of colonial rule, the impact of imperialism and colonialism on Southeast Asian society and economy, cultural adaptations to foreign rule, nationalism and revolution, and problems of decolonization.
