09W, 10W: 9; Laboratory A survey of fundamental concepts, phenomena, and methods in fluid mechanics and their application in engineering systems and in nature. Emphasis is placed on the development and use of the conservation laws for mass, momentum, and energy, as well as on the empirical knowledge essential to the understanding of many fluid-dynamic phenomena. Applications include fluid machinery as well as geophysical, environmental, and biomedical fluid flows. Prerequisite: Engineering Sciences 23 and 25 (may be taken concurrently), or equivalent.
