10S: 12 This course surveys visual culture in North America over the twentieth century. While the United States will be emphasized, we will also consider art produced in Canada and Mexico. In addition to mainstream artists, we will explore art produced by marginalized communities, in particular African Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans, Mexican Americans, women, and Queer artists.
