A laboratory course covering the identification, classification, and interpretation of artifacts from historic archaeological sites. Handcrafted and mass-produced materials of domestic and foreign manufacture will be considered, especially the glass, iron and ceramic artifacts most commonly recovered on Colonial and Early American sites. Class projects will generally focus on collections from excavation in Maine. Satisfies the General Education Applications of Scientific Knowledge, Western Cultural Tradition and Writing Intensive Requirements. Lec 3, Lab 2.
