A survey of the cultural history of German-speaking countries, as well as contemporary civilization, with an emphasis on individual aspects of culture traced through several epochs. Preparation for Course P: third-year German language proficiency or consent of instructor. Cr. 3. Notes In general, grades of Incomplete are not given in 100- and 200-level language courses. Study Abroad Indiana University or Purdue University students with an appropriate command of German may apply for a year's study, with full credit, in the IU program at the University of Freiburg; participation is not limited to German majors. The fourth or fifth semester of German may be taken during six weeks of full-time study abroad in the summer in Graz, Austria. Semester programs are available in Munich and Freiburg.
