A development of the concepts introduced in CHM 115. Introduction to phase changes, vapor pressure, solutions and solubility; colligative properties. Introductory thermodynamic treatments of equilibrium conditions of oxidation-reduction, electrochemistry, complexation, and acids and bases. Kinetics of chemical change, simple rate laws and reaction mechanisms. Descriptive chemistry of the "representative" elements ("s" and "p" block elements) with emphasis on periodic relationships.
