(251) (Formerly offered as POLS 254.) Either semester. Three credits. Prerequisite: Open to juniors or higher. When students intend to take several courses in the Judicial Process field, it is recommended that 3817 be taken first. Leading schools of legal thought, fundamental principles and concepts of law, the basic framework of legal institutions, and judicial procedure. Particular attention is devoted to the general features of American law as it affects the citizen, and primary emphasis is placed on the function of law as a medium for attaining a balance of social interests in a politically organized society.
