Explores the fundamentals of map reading and land navigation. Offers students the opportunity to locate and explain legend information in order to identify topographical symbols on a military map. Topics include plotting and measuring directional azimuths, converting azimuths, identifying terrain features, and locating unknown points using intersection and resection techniques. Covers how to navigate in unfamiliar terrain using a map and compass; skills essential for National Advanced Leadership Camp.
