Retired August 31, 2005; replaced by ETC 4411 in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies. Extends the students' basic knowledge of computer organization with hands-on experience of the installation, configuration, and upgrading of current microcomputer systems and peripherals. Extensive coverage is accomplished on I/O and storage devices, cabling systems, and standards used to simplify the connections of peripherals between the various modules of the systems. Presents students with the physical, electrical, and logical characteristics of various microprocessors, data transfer busses, and volatile and nonvolatile medium.
