(263) Second semester. Three credits. Four hour laboratory. Prerequisite: CSE 3300; CSE 2304 or 3666. Software laboratory that explores selected issues in networking and distributed systems. Topics include: Berkely sockets; TCP and IP; atm apis; latency and bandwidth; performance models; performance evaluation of different network fabrics; MPI; simple CORBA; performance characteristics of MPI, Java, RMI, and CORBA; implementation and evaluation of a client-server system.
