Stephen Dellaporta, Sidney Altman, Thomas Pollard, Matthew Rodeheffer. mwf10.30-11.20 Sc (33) A study of the central dogma and fundamental principles of molecular biology, including a detailed discussion of model organisms and experimental methodologies in biological research. Topics include chemistry of biological macromol-ecules, dna and rna structure and function, chromosome and genome organization, transcriptional and translational regulation, protein structure and function, genomics, and bioinformatics. Designed to provide an accelerated venue for MCDB majors entering the department's core curriculum. Prerequisite: score of5 on the Advanced Placement test in Biology.
