Presents sound principles and approaches for GIS implementation, as well as project management and organizational issues, to provide the necessary foundation of information on alternatives and pitfalls. Main topics include: GIS needs assessment, software/hardware considerations, financial and staffing requirements, project-scope delineation, project planning and control, pilot projects.
