This course provides a historical, cultural, and social perspective on toys and games with discussions on their creation and use throughout the ages. By the end of the semester students will better understand the meaning and importance of toys and play as well as the evolution of the global toy industry, learn how and why different cultural groups create and use various toys as well as the origins and cultural implications of several classic toys. Students will be exposed to inventors who have made significant contributions to the field.
