An introduction to the key mathematical ideas and techniques that support the two main arms of the area of Financial Mathematics: portfolio optimization and option valuation. The mathematics of personal finance including interest, loans, and annuities, probability modeling for finance, single-period portfolio optimization, utility theory, introduction to the CAPM model, linear programming methods, single-period valuation of futures and options, and multiple time period asset models using Markov chains.
