This course will consider how debates in the study of the philosophy, history and sociology of science can contribute to, and be influenced by, anthropological discussions about the relationship between knowledge and power, colonialism, identity politics and (post)modernity. The course will discuss such issues as the way social interests influence laboratory practices, how 'multiculturalism' influences both the contentand very definition of science, and the relationship between capitalism and science in students' everyday lives.
