This strategic area of the world is studied in its successive historical phases: from its indigenous origins to the formation of Spanish, English, French, Dutch, and Danish colonial and plantation societies and the 20thcentury creation of modern nations and commonwealth territories at the doorsteps of the United States. Prerequisite: Tier II in history and ENG 2150.
