This course examines the impact of work and nonwork on the individual and society. Special emphasis is placed on examining the roles of government, voluntary agencies, management and labor in defining the purposes of social policy. Topics include: the history and philosophy of work, health issues in the workplace, women and work, labor- management relations, the democratization of the workplace, and racial and sexual discrimination in employment.
