This course offers an intensive survey of the major currents in Jewish life frotrace the process by which the Jews gradually ceased to be a society unto themstransformations of the modern era, from the Enlightenment and the rise of a bouand revolutionary socialism. Within the evolving forms of Jewish religious expetopics as emancipation, Jewish-gentile relations, the emergence of distinct denreestablishment of political sovereignty in modern Israel.
