Staff. The course will be taught in English. In this seminar, we will study innovative twentieth-century Flemish and Dutch fiction and film against a cultural and historical background. We will mainly read postwar novels and discuss their context and importance. In our readings of concrete texts, we will pay special attention to new, experimental forms of narrative and their implication for the understanding of the text, as well as to the adaptation of these new forms to the movie screen.
