Prerequisite(s): CHEM 242 and 245. Corequisite(s): CHEM 261. Lab fee $300. Advanced laboratory work on the synthesis, structure, and properties of organic compounds. Infrared, ultraviolet, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Lectures cover the theoretical basis and applications of modern spectroscopic methods. For safety reasons students will not be permitted to wear contact lenses in the laboratory.
