This course covers historical and contemporary uses of natural resources found on the Tohono O'odham Nation. Topics include history of Tohono O'odham natural resources use, the hydrologic cycle and water use, soils and soil qualities, agricultural production on the Tohono O'odham Nation, rangeland uses, plants, livestock, and wildlife on the Tohono O'odham Nation, land use policy, and natural resources and economic development. Fundamentals of ecology and their relevance to human impact on natural ecosystems. Includes ecosystem structure and function, population dynamics, and human impacts on air, water, land, and biodiversity.
