Exploration of writers, works and topics in fiction, poetry, drama, and film, emphasizing the relationship between literature and current concerns. Topics include the city in fiction and film, literature and identity, literature of death, literature of contemporary myth and folklore, women in literature. Primarily for the general student not specializing in English or comparative literature. May count only as an elective course toward the English major. May be repeated with new title and content.
