Introduction to the study of Asian American cultures. Review of the history of migration from Asian countries to the United States, and examination of the contemporary ethnographic portrayals of different Asian communities. Emphasis on the lives of Southeast Asian refugees and migrants who have come to the U.S. in the last 25 years. Uses anthropological writings on changing patterns of kinship, social organization, economics and religion, as well as first-person literary accounts. Credits: 3
