An introduction to key signatures, scales, modes, intervals, triads, seventh chords, inversions, and rhythm. The student will be able to identify and generate all of the above. The student will also be able to identify the following aurally: major, natural minor, harmonic minor, and melodic minor scales; Dorian and Mixolydian modes; major, minor,augmented, and diminished triads; and simple rhythms. Prerequisite: the ability to read staff notated music. (3)
