3 Credits 3 Class Hours Prerequisite: ENG 102 American literature as it developed in the period during which jazz and modern popular musical forms emerged as important expressions of American culture. Emphasis on cross-currents of influence among literature, popular music and the social climate of twentieth-century United States. ENG 3 3 2 FILM AND LITERATURE 3 Credits 3 Class Hours Prerequisite: ENG 102 Study of the narrative film. Emphasis on the elements of film, film genres, literary aspects of film, and the place of the director. Students will consider the major currents of film criticism theory and will be expected to provide written and oral evaluations of major narrative films.
