This course will focus primarily on the application of spectroscopy to sample identification and structural elucidation. Topics covered will include infrared spectroscopy, mass spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (including H1, C13, DEPT and 2D). Students will learn to interpret spectra and to identify unknown compounds based on their spectra. Prerequisite: CHE 226. Three hours of lecture per week. CREDIT: THREE SEMESTER HOURS.
