Through a close examination of a diverse range of visual arts, including painting, film, video, photography, sculpture, earth works, and performance art, we explore what contemporary art reveals about American culture. While offering students exposure to many issues that are of critical concern to contemporary society, the course pays particular attention to questions surrounding sexuality, gender, race, and consumer culture.
