Surveys racial and ethnic demographics of population in the U.S. in order to understand social stratifi cation. Explores various historic, social and economic forces which have contributed to emergence and assignment of racial and ethnic identities of Americans. Major populations and identities such as African-Americans, Native Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Asian-Americans and Anglo-Americans will be covered. Prerequisite: SOC101.
