This course is an introduction to the concepts of contemporary abstract algebra and applications of those concepts in areas such as physics and chemistry. Topics include groups, subgroups, isomorphisms and homomorphisms, rings integral domains and fields. Prerequisites: MATH213 and MATH223 or MATH224, and MATH300 or consent of the instructor. 3 hours lecture; 3 semester hours.
