3 HOURS The study of the teaching profession, including historical, philosophical, and social foundations of education. This course provides an overview of the teaching profession and serves as an introduction to the professional education sequence. Students will gain knowledge of the VCSU teacher education model and will have opportunities to apply knowledge and skills through peer teaching activities and a required 40 hour eld experience in an elementary or secondary classroom. Emphasis is placed upon the knowledge and skills needed to prepare pre-service teachers to become knowledge-based decision makers who can provide learning experiences for K-12 students through effective use of planning, implementing, evaluating, and re ecting. (Fall, Spring)
