Seminar, 2 hours; outside research, 1 hour; practicum, 1-2 hours; extra reading, 2-3 hours. Prerequisite(s): appointment as a teaching assistant in the Department of Women's Studies. Supervised training for teaching in lower- and upper-division Women's Studies courses. Seminar considers feminist pedagogy, including gender and dynamics in the classroom; comparative and historical approaches to teaching about gender and sexuality; techniques for discussing sensitive topics; providing resource referrals for students facing gender or sexuality issues; preparation; grading written work; and student relations. Graded Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC).
