Topics in electromagnetic waves including Maxwell's equations; geometrical optics; optical instruments, cavities, and waveguides; interference, diffraction, and polarization; and special theory of relativity. Laboratories provide exercises illustrating the experimental foundations of physical principles and selected applications.
