Fine structure and spin-orbit coupling in single-electron atoms; angular momentum coupling and magnetic moments in many-electron atoms; Hartree-Fock solution to many-electron problem; hyperfine structure; atoms in magnetic, electric, and coherent electromagnetic fields; the two-level atom; electron spin resonance spectroscopy; nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy; laser spectroscopy; fundamentals of chemical bonding in molecules.
