Laws and applications of thermodynamics: entropy, thermodynamic potentials, ideal gases. Principles and applications of statistical mechanics: probability distributions; canonical, microcanonical, and grand canonical ensembles; specific heat of solids; paramagnetism; kinetic theory of gases; phase transitions; quantum statistics.
