Examines various technologies that alter our bodies and investigates how technological interventions in the body reproduce and reshape gender ideologies in contemporary Western culture. Explores theoretical approaches to feminism, body, and technology. Topics include cosmetic, sex-reassignment, and weight loss surgeries; reproductive, contraceptive, and medical technologies; anti-depressants; sex toys; and body piercing. Cross-listed with WMST 189.
