Lecture, 3 hours; extra reading, 3 hours. Prerequisite(s): SPN 110; concurrent or previous enrollment in one of the following courses: SPN 120A, 120B, 120C. Looks at narrative, poetry, history and other art to explore the need to search for human origins. Examines how this need can influence mythologies and serve as a way to organize the world, explain the present, and define identity. Readings are from Spain, Latin America, and North America.
