Lecture, 3 hours; discussion, 1 hour. Prerequisite(s): SPN 110; concurrent or previous enrollment in LNST 120/SPN 120C, SPN 120A, or SPN 120B. Focuses on intersections between literature and scientific discourse and considers how popular notions of science inform the production and reading of the literary text. Topics may include the function of power in scientific discourse, the politics or alternative universities, and science and gender. Course is repeatable as content changes to maximum of 8 units.
