Examines the transformations in the structure of African American families and households in a society bifurcated by wealth and power. Focuses on the interaction among class, ethnicity, the state, social institutions, and market processes in the formation and structural stability of alternative African American families and households. Fulfills the Humanities or Social Sciences requirement, but not both, for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
