Lecture, 3 hours; extra reading, 3 hours. Prerequisite(s): ENGL 001B or equivalent; admission to the University Honors Program or consent of instructor. Honors course corresponding to ENGL 001C and ENGL 01SC. A course in extended expository prose with emphasis on principles of explanation, interpretation, and argument. Special attention is paid to the theoretical implications of various modes of academic inquiry. Students must be formally enrolled prior to the beginning of instruction and must attend the first day to avoid being dropped from the class. Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) grading is not available. Credit is awarded for only one of ENGL 001C, ENGL 01HC, or ENGL 01SC.
