Lecture, 3 hours; practicum, 3 hours. Prerequisite(s): upper-division standing. Introduction to sociocultural perspectives of child development. Topics include sociocultural theories of development, motivational aspects of learning, technology in education, and school-home linkages. Application of child development theories and research related to them takes place during fieldwork assignments in after-school, computer-based programs for elementary and middle school students.
